Vanamo baby wraps are ecological and ethically produced in Finland from pure natural materials. Because of our special weaving technique Vanamo wraps are soft, moldable and strong. Wool is breathable & thermoregulating. Wool keeps the skin dry and warm while absorbing the moisture away from the skin. Pitsi weave is diagonally elastic which means that the baby wrap gives optimum support for the baby and feels comfortable for both the wearer and the child. This wrap works great in hot and humid climates. And it feels equally comforting in the chilly autumn and winter days. Kapok is a very light weight plant fibre with a hollow structure. 80 % of kapok fibre is air! Kapok is spinned with organic cotton which strengthens the yarn. Kapok makes the fabric more porous and breathable, and it is also thermoregulating. Because of it's lightness the percentage of Kapok in the total weight of fabric is low but the percentage in the volume is higher. Light weight and narrow Vanamo wrap is lovely for newborn babies and supportive enough for toddlers, too. The word "Pitsi" means lace in Finnish. Pitsi pattern reminds us of the old hand-spun fragile lace pattern. The Pitsi weave is a complex mixture of twill and tabby weaves which create the unique structured, porous and comfortable weave. Ironing while still a little damp or use steam. NO tumble-drying! We recommend washing the baby wrap before you start using it. The wrap will become softer and easier to wrap with after washing & ironing, and the fabric will obtain it's optimum structure and density. Each baby wrap includes some extra length for shrinking.
