Flint and Steel Kit No. 2 One of the most popular of all of the Flint and Steel fire making kits, this kit comes with a durable and expertly hand-sewn and embroidered linen pouch. Flint and Steel Kit No. 2 is a classic example of how style and substance can walk hand in hand. It's as beautiful as it is functional, making it one of the best gifts for outdoor pursuits like camping and hunting. Aside from the linen pouch, this kit consists of: A high carbon hand-forged firesteel, 3” (75mm) in length A small tin container of char cloth tinder A large piece of flint stone A bundle of jute twine Rope or leather cordage, 1 meter in length The high carbon steel striker provided in this fire making kit is larger than some of the others we make, and as such it is more ergonomic and far easier to use for less experienced people. The piece of flint offered in this kit is larger than average too, making it very safe to use. Alternatively, you could split it into several smaller pieces, the extremely hard and sharp edges of which would make the generation of sparks even easier. The pouch can be fastened using either a brown leather cord or some cotton rope with a length of 1 meter. As this rope is not physically attached to the bag itself, it can be easily swapped for another or it can be temporarily used for other purposes as and when required. Unlike some of our more compact fire making kits, the pouch itself is large enough to hold extra lengths of twine, pieces of natural tinder and even additional steel strikers and pieces of flint.
